The Woodstock Sessions
review by Mike Daly - Green Guide, The Age, 14 September 2000
Another highly impressive local recording is The Woodstock Sessions: Songs of
Bob Dylan (Rhythms), on which Rhythms magazine founder-editor Brian
Wise has assembled a dream cast of performers covering the venerable Bob's
repertoire. It's the kind of project that could be fraught with peril, but this
turns out to be all class, matching the right songs and singers in Joe
Camilleri's studio with a core rhythm section provided by Paul Kelly's Casuals
(Stephen Hadley, Peter Luscombe and Bruce Haymes). Highlights include Joe's easy
rendition of You Ain't Goin' Nowhere, Ross Wilson (what a voice) on
If You See Her Say Hello and She Belongs To Me, Chris Wilson and
Andrew Pendlebury on Seven Curses and Knocking on Heaven's Door,
Stephen Cummings with It's All Over Now Baby Blue and Born In
Time and bluesman Jeff Lang's dazzling Ballad of Hollis Brown.
