Stephen Cummings:
After four years, five albums and many tours Stephen's desire to pursue a wider range of interests and collaborations proved irresistible.
His first solo album Senso drew accolades from the music press and the hit single Gymnasium confirmed his reputation for timeless command of pop style.
He has a new single due out next month, an album later in the year and a writing project under way for a stage musical.
Working on this show for the Australian Dance Theatre reflects Stephen's interest in stage production. As a co-songwriter with Peter Crosbie and as vocalist with the band Stephen hopes you enjoy his detour into dance.
Peter Crosbie:
On returning to Australia he took up studies in composition at the University of
Western Australia with Roger Smalley and John Exton, where he remained for 4
years.
Concurrently he formed the Dugites who began touring nationally in 1980. In the
following year they recorded their first album "The Dugites" which went gold and
set the band on a 5 year path of touring and recording. Their final album, "Cut
The Talking" was released in mid 1984 to considerable acclaim.
Peter has been associated with diverse projects throughout his career. For some
years he was a member of the U.W.A. gamelon orchestra under Professor Bernard
Suryabrata. In 1979 Peter wrote and directed the music for the W.A. Theatre
Company's production of "Thesmaphoriasuzae" and he has completed scores for a
number of films, most notably "Running on Empty".
Peter's musical career began when he bought his first
Beatles' record at the age of 10. He started playing in bands soon after and
continued until 1974 when he went to England and commenced his classical
training.
